The City of Palm Desert funds two School Resource Officer positions, one for Palm Desert Charter Middle School and one for Palm Desert High School. The School Resource Officers (SRO's) work closely with school officials, teachers, and the students to help create a safe and secure learning environment at each campus. The SRO's also work closely with the Desert Sands Unified School District Campus Security Officers. Through their honest and open communications with the students, the SRO's promote a positive image of law enforcement. They are often able to prevent problems from arising by their close relationships with the students.
