Investigations Team
The Palm Desert Station Investigations Bureau serves the City of Palm Desert, as
well as the Cove Communities. The Investigations Bureau is supervised by Lt. Greg
Ammons, a 25-year veteran. The Bureau is comprised of fourteen dedicated Investigators
assigned to various specialties such as robbery, assaults, sex crimes and child
abuse, and property crimes, as well as missing persons, runaways and domestic violence
investigations.
We staff six Investigators assigned specifically to the City of Palm Desert to handle
child abuse, sex crimes, and major crimes against persons. In addition, we have
two Investigators assigned to solve property crimes within the City of Palm Desert,
such as burglary, theft, fraud, and identity theft. These Investigators are goal
oriented and take pride in their assignment. Nothing gives then more satisfaction
than solving these cases and recovering stolen property that can be returned to
the victims.
All the investigators are assigned cases after a supervisory review of each case
forwarded to the Investigations Bureau. If you have a case assigned to this Bureau,
the assigned investigator will contact you about your case as necessary. Our mission
is a collective one; to serve the City of Palm Desert and the Cove Communities by
solving crimes, recovering property, and identifying criminal suspects.
We also assign an officer as a full time position to track and register convicted
sex offenders and convicted drug offenders required to register by law within the
city of Palm Desert. This officer maintains accurate records on these registrants
including photographs, home addresses, work addresses and vehicles they drive. This
officer also conducts routine compliance checks where he visits the registrant at
their listed addresses to make sure they are in compliance with their requirements.
If you have any questions about this program or have any information about a possible
unregistered offender in your area you can contact Investigations at 760 836-1660.
