Get involved and get a reward - anonymously!
Citizens are a key link in solving crime. Coachella Valley residents have more eyes
and ears than all our police officers combined. As a result, members of this community
see and hear things that can be used to help solve crimes - but sometimes they're
afraid to say anything for fear of retaliation or "getting involved."
Through Crime Stoppers, witnesses to a crime can give information to the proper
authorities without revealing their identity. Plus, if the information
leads to an arrest, the witness can earn a reward of up to $1,000 in cash.
That witness could be you.
How Crime Stoppers Works
If you've seen suspicious activity, or know that a crime has been committed, simply
call 341-STOP (7867). You don't have to give your name! An operator
will take your information and assign you a code number. If an arrest is made, you
call Crime Stoppers again, provide your code number, and a reward will be paid -
no questions asked!
The operator will give instructions about how to collect your cash reward. You never
have to reveal your identity or sign any receipts.
About Valley Crime Stoppers
The mission of Valley Crime Stoppers is to rally the community, news media and the
police in a collective campaign against crime. Our goal is to help prevent and solve
crimes in our community by giving witnesses a way to provide information anonymously.
The program is a local chapter of Crime Stoppers International, an organization
that grew from the first Crime Stoppers program established in Albuquerque, NM in
1979. It is run by an all-volunteer board of directors who come from all walks of
life and who appreciate the value of promoting a safe community.
Valley Crime Stoppers is a
non-profit organization that is supported entirely by donations from local
businesses and individuals. Funds raised are used primarily for the payment of rewards.
Our major fund-raising event is an annual golf tournament - but contributions are
welcome year-round!
